2023/2024 Edition of Futurabili: “Futurabili4Baranzate”
“Futurabili4Baranzate” has been designed as part of the MIND Community House initiative, an imaginary space aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration among entities adjacent to MIND, business within MIND, and academia.
This second edition, conceived by the company PlusValue and the local association La Rotonda APS in Baranzate, in partnership with ROLD company, Fondazione Triulza, Università degli Studi di Milano, and Valore Italia Restoration School, serves as a pathway for approaching and understanding the MIND district and the opportunities it offers. It is specifically dedicated to young individuals participating in the activities of the La Rotonda APS association, most of whom are “second-generation immigrants”.
The objective of Futurabili4Baranzate is to strengthen MIND’s ties with the surrounding community, guiding young people in their work and academic orientation journey. Two training sessions are planned: artificial intelligence and 3D modeling. The program will take place both at La Rotonda di Baranzate, and in MIND, consisting of workshops and meetings with professionals from companies within the district.
One of the novelties of the second edition is that participants will have to create a semi professional video reportage of MIND, narrating their personal experience and perception of this new area. On one hand, this narrative instrument forces youngsters to focus on specific features of the area. On the other hand, it gives them an opportunity to learn something new, more related to culture and art. The final video will be presented in March at an open-door event at La Rotonda di Baranzate, where MINDers and people from the surrounding municipalities will be invited.
Stages of the Program:
1. Understanding phase (November 2023)
Educators from La Rotonda and partners educate participants for the program’s objectives based on shared materials and preparatory meetings:
- Meeting 1: Getting to know MIND Milano Innovation District, with Fondazione Triulza
- Meeting 2: Camera usage in preparation for the guided tour at MIND
- Meeting 3: Building the narrative (storyboard) for the MIND video reportage
2. Observing and deep dive phase (December 2023 – January 2024)
During this phase, participants took a guided tour of MIND to learn about its history and innovation context. They met and interview key stakeholders, focusing on career and education expectations:
- University of Milan, relocating its scientific faculties to MIND in 2027
- Fondazione Triulza, a hub for the third sector and community engagement
- Valore Italia, an International Training and Research Center focusing on new restoration methodologies
- ROLD, a small to medium-sized manufacturing company specializing in innovative electronic components for appliances.
3. Experimenting phase (January – February 2024)
Guided by ROLD experts, participants will engage in two workshops: Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Materials. The experience will help participants understand training and professional opportunities, expanding their academic and career horizons.
4. Taking Action and Sharing phase (February – March 2024)
Participants in groups, led by their educators and a video-making expert, will create a video reportage about their MIND experience, expressing their emotions, perceptions, and expectations. The audio-visual medium is chosen to enhance participants’ skills, aiming to create a final product that provides a personal and creative narrative about the MIND district, shareable with others.
